And a bit more about me…
Rika, an accomplished author of fiction and non-fiction, as well as a prolific blogger, traces her creative roots back to her upbringing in Sri Lanka. Immersed in the arts from a young age, she cultivated a deep love for painting and reading.
Her academic journey led her to the UK, where she pursued architecture and subsequently thrived as a Design Manager for eight years. However, it was the call of her true passion that eventually beckoned. Rika now crafts captivating stories for both children and adults, alongside regular reviews of fringe theatre productions in London.
A proud member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), Rika resides in London, where she seamlessly balances her roles as an author, copywriter and biographer.
Beyond the written word, Rika’s heart belongs to tennis—whether on the court or as an avid spectator. Her mischievous cat Milo keeps her on her toes, and her love for reading (obviously) is evident in her inability to resist adding a few (or ten) books to her collection every time she passes a bookstore. After all, there’s always room for more!”

What is Akuru?
Akuru means ‘letters’ in my native language of Sinhalese. Akuru is the DNA that is strung together to make up all words and sentences, accented with typographical symbols and punctuations.
As a writer, I enjoy crafting powerful and personal narratives for businesses and individuals. It is my passion to discover authentic voices, learn new stories, and craft them into compelling text.
